Photoshop Tutorial: Kindle Screensaver

I’ve started to create kindle screensavers because I was sick of the stock ones. The above video is how I did it. (If you’re curious about how to use custom screensavers on your kindle, here’s the tutorial that I used.) Here’s the Kindle screensavers I’ve done for Michael Sullivan’s ‘Riyria Revelations’.

Riyria Revelations Kindle Screensavers

I really like book covers. The normal Kindle screensavers  are fine but I prefer the look of the books that I am currently reading. After a quick kindle diagnostic mode, I was able to put custom screensavers on my kindle. Here is the images I came up with for the ‘Ryria Revelations‘ series by Michael Sullivan. [...]

Kindle Screensaver for Theft of Swords by Michael Sullivan

UPDATE: I’ve updated this kindle screensaver so that it’s the actual cover. I used photoshops ‘content-aware fill’ to draw content on the side gutters. I’ve been drudging through some uninspired urban and traditional fantasy books looking for a new book to love. I’ve found that in Michael Sullivan’s ‘Riyria Reveletaions‘ series with the first book ‘Theft of [...]

Cupcakery for fun

My daughters were in a photo shoot put on by Three Cheers Creative. John’s (Backflip Films partner) son Rowan was also in the shoot. Being filmmakers, we decided to bring our video equipment along and shoot the shoot. The cupcakery was very tight, especially when you add 9 adults and 5 kids into the entrance, [...]

Superman is a douchebag? DC: New 52, Action Comics #1

Little known fact, I’m a big comic book fan.  I have some transient tastes, but have usually stuck with Amazing Spider-Man and Uncanny X-Men through the years.  I, like many young men, got into comics by relating to the material.  Be it the geeky underdog of Peter Parker in Spider-Man, or super-powered comradery like X-Men.  I [...]

Update to Backflip Films website

We’ve updated our video production website Backflip Films, hopefully it will be the last update for a few months ;). We really wanted a featured rotator on the front page and that sparked many more changes.  This should also help with SEO since we can put who we are front and center, and then just rotate [...]

You can find our guides here: http://researchguides.library.wisc.edu. This is an example of their default interface and colors: LibGuides offers a basic design with some [...]
